CVIN Public Announcement of David Nelson Appointment
Central Valley Independent Network is pleased to announce its appointment of David Nelson of Fresno, California as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Nelson has been the key founder and developer of several successful start-up telecommunications companies, including Via Wireless. In less than three years, he led Via’s build out and grew the organization to over 300 employees serving 50,000 customers.
CVIN is the recipient of stimulus grant funding for a large broadband project throughout the Central Valley from Bakersfield to Colusa covering 18 counties. Mr. Nelson intends to make CVIN the dominant broadband provider in the region. He believes strongly the Valley is ripe for this major infrastructure project which can help propel economic recovery. The grant award was based on the demonstrated unserved and underserved nature of the Valley communities.
CVIN, a privately held LLC, and CENIC, its public partner, intend to build a 1,300 mile fiber based Middle Mile broadband network targeting educational, library, and public safety sites. The Central Valley Next Generation Broadband Infrastructure Project (CVNGBIP.org) will additionally deliver robust broadband bandwidth capability to the numerous underserved communities throughout the Valley. |
